EBOOST Cocktails

February 26, 2010

EBOOST CocktailYou may have read this article from Thrillist about the new EBOOST margarita being served at Lure FishBar in New York. It contains all kinds of healthy juices like orange, clementine, nectarine and grapefruit, together with a shot of the new Acai-Pomegranate EBOOST. Plus premium tequila, which is only healthy in a sinus-clearing kind of way.

Anyway, that got us thinking about other possibilities for EBOOST cocktails. We came up with these two. What can you come up with?

Cranberry Surprise
Mix one packet of orange EBOOST with 6oz cranberry juice and 4oz soda water. Add lime.

EBOOST Palmer
Mix one packet Pink Lemonade with 8oz iced tea and 2oz soda water. Add lemon.

The EBOOST Workout

February 19, 2010

Are you ready to kick your workout up a notch? Try the new EBOOST workout, and don’t forget to leave a comment telling us your best time.

Here’s how it works: Use a stopwatch to time yourself from beginning to end. Don’t stop the clock ever; the timer should run from the moment you start the run until the moment you finish the last push-up. Note your time in a journal so you can track your progress from week to week. And no cheating! We may not be able to tell, but your wardrobe certainly will.

Perform the following exercises in order:

  • Run one mile as fast as you possibly can.
  • Push-Up Countdown: 10 reps, rest ten seconds; 9 reps, rest nine seconds; 8 reps, rest eight seconds; and so on, all the way to 1.
  • Pull-Ups: Use a wide grip and do 25 proper pull-ups. Women can use the weight-assisted machine.
  • Bicep Curls into Shoulder Press: 25 lb dumbells (men) or 10lb (women). Perform the “up” section of the bicep curl, move into a shoulder press, then return to the bicep curl position and perform the “down” section. This constitutes one rep.Use a fluid motion, rotating one arm at a time. 25 reps per arm/side.
  • Plank:  Hold for one minute, rest for 5 seconds; repeat for 3 total reps.

And your time is? EBOOST co-founder John McDonald managed 25 min 35 seconds. His trainer Andy Spear at Equinox Soho beat that time by 10 minutes. How did you do?

EBOOST Athlete: Jonathon Prince

December 22, 2009

EBOOST Jonathon PrinceJonathon Prince always loved to run. As a sophomore at Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas, NV, he broke the school mile record with a time of 5:35, a feat never before achieved by a sophomore. College life at Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA put a temporary stop to his running habit, but he resumed in 2003, getting up at 5:30am five days a week to pound the streets.

In August 2005 while running through his Studio City, CA neighborhood, Jonathon decided to try and do something to help the victims of the recent Hurricane Katrina. He organized the first Run 4 Relief, a cross-country run starting in Studio City and ending in Atlanta, GA. Despite his father’s warnings that the attempt was foolish and bound to fail, Jonathon persevered and in February 2006, he finished his run with four police cars and the Clark-Atlanta University track team escorting him to a homecoming celebration.

With the success of Run 4 Relief, Jonathon found his life’s purpose. In July 2006, he began Run 4 Relief II, running from Atlanta, GA to New York to promote awareness of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. In total, Jonathon raised $125,000 for Katrina relief efforts.

Now, Jonathon’s at it again. This time, his Hope or Die! run started in California in October 2009 and will end in Washington, DC in March 2010. Instead of running straight across America, Jonathon plans to run from community to community, helping where help is needed and inspiring others to do likewise. Along the way, he’ll be raising money for six charities:

EBOOST is proud to provide Jonathon with the energy, hydration and recovery to help him on his run. If you want to do YOUR part to help Jonathon raise money, go to his website at www.hopeordie.org and click on “Contribute.” Tweet about it, tell your friends and post about it on facebook. Every little helps.

EBOOST Your Immune System

September 22, 2009

Immune ImageFall is approaching and with it come all the wonderful sights and smells of the season: leaves changing color, a nip in the air, the smell of wood burning in fireplaces, the line of coughing, sneezing people at the doctor’s office… Wait. Run that last one by me again?

If there’s one feature of this season that none of us look forward to it’s the endless round of colds and flu. Around this time every year, newspapers and magazines are full of articles about ways to boost your immune system and ward off illness. Here are some of the most proven tips:

  1. Get enough sleep
Sleep has been linked to balanced hormone levels, weight maintenance, focus, mood and healthy skin.

  2. Wash your hands
Wash for 15-20 seconds before eating or preparing food, and after coughing or sneezing, going to the bathroom, or touching surfaces in highly populated areas. Make sure you use warm water and soap.

  3. Exercise
Physical activity stimulates the body’s production of T-cells, a kind of white blood cell that guards against infection. Working out for around 30 minutes on most days should give your immune system a boost. As an added benefit, you’ll lose weight, increase your energy level and clear your skin.

  4. Reduce stress
Your body’s response to stress is to secrete more cortisol. Over time, this can lead to all kinds of health problems, including lowered immunity.

  5. Eat less refined sugar
A single 12-oz can of regular soda contains about 100 grams of sugar. That’s enough to reduce the ability of white blood cells to kill germs by 40% for up to 5 hours! (EBOOST contains no refined sugar.)

  6. Take herbs and supplements
    Enter EBOOST!

In addition to being a superb energy booster, EBOOST contains many vitamins and herbs that play an important role in getting your immune system ready to face the seasonal onslaught. Let’s take a look, shall we? That’s a rhetorical question. I’m the writer, so we’re GOING to look. :)

  • Vitamin C
Enhances the body’s resistance to many different diseases. Strengthens the immune system by stimulating the activity of antibodies and immune system cells.

  • Niacin
Speeds the metabolism, causing increased tolerance to the cold.

  • Vitamin B6
Helps maintain the health of the thymus, spleen and lymph nodes. Increases antibody production and increases immune response.

  • Folate (folic acid)
Increases T-cell production and mitogen response (cell division to increase the immune response).

  • Zinc
Aids in the development and activation of T-lymphocytes. Zinc deficiency is associated with increased susceptibility to pneumonia and other infections.

  • Selenium
Helps the production of antioxidant enzymes. Deficiencey contributes to autoimmune diseases by making the body more susceptible to stress and disease.

  • Green tea leaf extract
Rich in antioxidants called catechins. When Canadian researchers added green tea to lab samples of the adenovirus (one of many that causes colds), the virus’ ability to replicate was severely inhibited. Likewise, researchers in South Korea found that green tea can stop the influenza virus from replicating.

  • Astragalus
Used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Helps protect the body against physical, mental and emotional stress. Prevents colds and upper respiratory infections.

So there you have it: regular doses of EBOOST will turn your immune system into a virus-fighting machine! But don’t take our word for it: try some yourself and leave the doctor’s waiting room to those other poor non-boosted folks.

Happy fall!

New – EBOOST is in, FRS Energy Drink is out!

June 25, 2009

Orange EBOOST Health Booster PacketI am a Tier A trainer at the Equinox Gym in Los Angeles, and also teach Boot Camp classes and Kettle Bell Classes. I often have 6 clients a day and not only teach 2 classes a day but complete the entire class also. As you can imagine I am pushing my body and muscle fatigue to the max and 100% depend on a great diet and the right supplements to help me power through the day and re-energized my muscles and cells. I have tried every legitimate product on the market and often used by top Supplement Companies to alpha test products. I was taking FRS for a month and really trying to monitor the benefits they call out in Energy & Hydration, which are most important to me. After a month of usage I was not a huge fan of the taste, the sugars and the carbs, the most disappointing feature was that I was not feeling the Energy or Hydration benefits, which are easy for me to notice based on the exhaustive days I have.

I was recently introduced to EBOOST Vitamin Energy by another client and a few of the other trainers and they swore by it. I promised I would give EBOOST the same one month trial. What I loved most about EBOOST, was not only the great taste but the fact it had 0 sugars, 5 calories and 1 carb, but I felt this amazing lift of energy that lasted throughout the day, which allowed myself to be more focused and hydrated as well. When I would wake up in the morning, my muscles felt freshly recharged and ready for more punishment. Since I starting introducing EBOOST to all of my personal clients and students in my BOOT CAMP and KETTLE BELL camp, all I see at the gym now is a sea of Orange Water Bottles filled with EBOOST and almost fanatical endorsements on the product. EBOOST.COM you should contact me and have me as an ambassador, I love the product that much and have been incredibly influential in introducing it to my network. By Trent
