FatMan Unleashed EBOOST Healthy Energy Drink

FatMan Unleashed reviewed EBOOST this week. Our favorite quote: “A few minutes went by and I noticed an increased energy level and was ready – almost excited – to workout. I was shocked. EBOOST even gave me the vigor I needed to get through the entire workout. Pretty good stuff.”

One of the hardest things for me to do is muster up the energy to workout.

I am not a morning person so early morning workouts are not an option. I like sleeping too much to even consider the idea. I actually prefer to workout at night, but because the endorphins kick in and I get a big rush of energy, it keeps me up late and then I am even worse in the morning (yes, honey, it is possible for me to be an even worse morning person than I already am). The only option left is for me to workout after I get home from my job. And it ain’t easy.

Getting home from a stressful, eight hour workday and being motivated to workout is about as fun as going to the dentist. Sometimes getting over that hill of laziness and exhaustion is downright impossible. I usually rely on a hot cup of green tea to lift my level of energy, but as I live in Florida and it is summertime, I wanted something cold that could be made quickly. I began searching for something to give me that extra umph I needed to get me through my workouts.

I came across a fairly new product called EBOOST and decided I’d give it a try. EBOOST comes in small, individual packets that you add to water and drink. I sampled the pink lemonade flavor and was pleasantly surprised. It has a nice taste, and the effervescent crystals feel like they work the second they hit your taste buds. It was very easy to drink.

A few minutes went by and I noticed an increased energy level and was ready – almost excited – to workout. I was shocked. EBOOST even gave me the vigor I needed to get through the entire workout. Pretty good stuff.

Upon doing research of the ingredients, I did come across an issue with one of the listed products called 5-HTP. According to WebMD, it seems as though there may have been an issue with a contamination of 5-HTP which causes eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome, a very serious medical condition. Before I freaked out and called an ambulance, I researched further and found that chemical contamination from one single producer in the late 80s was the cause of the scare. Since then, there has not be one related medical problem for consumers of 5-HTP. And with its continued use and popularity, many people are using and researching the ingredient. Shwew. Instantly relieved.

Other ingredients for EBOOST include 1000 milligrams of Vitamin C (1,667 percent of your daily value), green tea extract, grape seed extract and various other vitamins. Serving suggestion is one packet in eight ounces of water every 12 hours or as needed. It states not to exceed more than four packets a day.

I will say that after my workout I did feel a bit of a crash, but nothing like what I feel after chugging an energy drink or even drinking a cup of coffee. And the crash may have been related to the hardcore workout I had just done.

Overall, I think EBOOST is a good way to give yourself an extra kick before a workout. For me, I don’t think it is something I would want to get into the habit of taking as an everyday supplement, as I prefer to get vitamins from a women’s multi and my energy from green tea. But this is definitely something I will keep in my pantry for those days when working out seems like it just won’t happen.

A New EBOOST Fan: “Callie Gets Skinny” Blog

July 12, 2010

We’re particularly impressed with the drawing of a Diet Coke Bong! Read the full review here.

I don’t know about y’all, but I am an admitted Diet Coke addict. Seriously. I feel like I need one to get my morning started… every morning… then one about every 3-4 hours. I have gotten A LOT better- getting down to only having one a day- but I wanted to cut that out, too. However, cutting it out made me insanely sleepy in the mornings! This was pretty much me:

The kind people at EBOOST sent me a sample of their powdered mix to try out. Their claim says:

EBOOST is a healthy energy drink mix that, when added to water, forms a vitamin rich effervescent supplement that increases energy levels, supports your body’s immune system, aids in recovery and electrolyte replacement, and boosts focus and performance.”

So, of course, I thought, “Yeah, right. Diet Coke > EBOOST.” Obvi, right?

Well, I was mistaken. Sorely mistaken. EBOOST comes in a super-cute little packet (I don’t know why I think everything is super-cute, but I definitely do) that looks innocent enough… but looks are deceiving. I added it to my bottle of water in the morning and didn’t think twice about it. About 20 minutes after I drank it… I suddenly realized that I wasn’t tired. And I didn’t get tired the whole workday. Wait… what? It had to be a fluke, right? So I tried it the next day. Same results. I have tried this for about a week and a half and have finally admitted to myself that EBOOST does what it promises. Not only does it give me energy, but I was feeling like I was getting a cold last week. Once I started drinking EBOOST for a few days? No more cold. Seriously. Therefore…

EBOOST > Diet Coke

It comes in two different flavors- orange and pink lemonade. I’m usually more of an orange fan, but I totally loved the pink lemonade! It’s a little fizzy and tastes yummy. Go try it out!

July 6, 2010

Amar'e Stoudemire Joins NY Knicks

NBA All-star Amar’e Stoudemire has been an EBOOST fan for a long time (he even sells it in his website store). And now he’s getting the biggest BOOST so far: a $99.7m, five-year contract with the New York Knicks. Here’s what the New York Post had to say:

The first block of a potential Knicks’ Dream Team was placed yesterday as All-Star power forward Amar’e Stoudemire announced he had agreed to terms with the Knicks. Stoudemire will get a five-year, $99.7 million deal that likely won’t be insurable because of past knee surgery.

“Oh yeah, the Knicks are back,” Stoudemire crowed.

Everyone at EBOOST would like to say CONGRATULATIONS, AMAR’E! You’re an amazing athlete and an inspiration to all of us here. Your talent and dedication to your sport and the work you do with kids through your Each One Teach One Foundation make us proud to know you. Stay BOOSTed!

Starbucks or EBOOST? One Blogger Decides

June 2, 2010

Is your morning latte becoming a need instead of a want? That’s the position one blogger found herself in recently. Her solution? EBOOST, of course.

Beauty and the Feast EBOOST Healthy Energy Drink

Recently, I had gotten to a scary-ish point in my work week that I had up until this point been able to avoid throughout college and four years in NY.

I was unable to function without my morning cup of coffee.

I would pride myself on following my rule of drinking lattes only for pleasure, during the weekend or in good company. Never because I needed it. That went out the window a few months ago when I was working days in the office and nights on the blog (hey, someone’s gotta do it). It’s weird how I think coffee starts to taste different when it’s a need and no longer a want. I needed to break out of the cycle and sleep-a-thons were not happening soon.

It was no sooner that I found I received a package to try: EBOOST, a powder nutrition supplement infused with Green tea extract, vitamin B12 for energy; and vitamin C, zinc and selenium for immunity. It fizzes when you add it to your water and has only a light, non-intrusive flavor (at least that’s true for the orange and pink lemonade ones that I tried).

The first time I took it, I really felt like I could focus more and felt more awake. I didn’t feel as excited about it the second time I tried it, still feeling like I was falling into a coma that even a vitamin-packed drink couldn’t revive me from. But after only a few days continuing with this, I no longer craved my coffee. It was a welcomed side effect that I didn’t consciously realize would replace my morning cups of java.

It also saved me some nice pocket change — whereas a tall cup of Starbucks’ white chocolate mocha costs me almost $5, one packet of E Boost evens out to only $0.85 ($28 for a pack of $24). It does contain caffeine by way of the green tea extract, but significantly less — kinda like a Nicorette patch for the caffeine addict.
